Senator Steve Nass (R-Whitewater) issued the following statement in response to state budget negotiations, the extremist State Supreme Court and legislation:
“The prosperity and freedoms of every citizen are in peril as Wisconsin’s extremist Democrats continue to grab power by any means necessary and face feeble consequences so far from the Republican Majority in the Legislature.
Governor Evers and extreme leftwing groups are using the bought-and-paid-for Wisconsin Supreme Court to usurp constitutional governance and invoke a tyranny of the courts over the free people of this state.
Meanwhile, Republican legislative leaders are spending time on bended knee seeking a bad budget deal with Governor Evers and Democrat votes for ROFR. This is not what the majority of voters that elected President Trump in Wisconsin want from the Republican Legislature.
The Republican Legislature does have strong powers still at its disposal to fight back. The greatest of our powers is the Power of the Purse String. It is time to starve the liberal beasts of the taxpayers’ money, by either passing no biennial budget or passing a very small mini-budget.
The horrible liberal Supreme Court is in place for several years, but in November 2026 the extremists will try winning the governorship and the legislative majority by any means necessary, to turn Wisconsin into another Minnesota and Illinois.
The Republican legislative majority can fight and give the voters a clear reason for keeping us; or stay on the current path of business-as-usual and the Republican majority will die.”
