MADISON, Wis. – Today, Wisconsin Democratic Legislators introduced a bill to fund Child Care Counts at a Capitol Press Conference. The Child Care Counts program will run out of money this summer and many child care centers will be forced to close or increase their tuition prices.

Rep. McCarville stated:

“In the past almost 20 years, our state has lost more than HALF of the child care providers in cities and almost 70% in Rural Areas!

“That is why I joined my colleagues today in introducing a $480 million investment in the Child Care Counts Program. I have heard from child care providers in my district that if they do not get this vital funding many of them will have to close their doors, or charge parents $40-$60 more a week just to keep the lights on.

“This is not acceptable; we need to do better to support Wisconsin’s Workforce and Wisconsin’s Children.
