Madison, WI – Today, Senate President Mary Felzkowski (R-Tomahawk) voted in favor of several provisions to support her constituents during a floor session of the State Senate.

Senate Bill 41 provides grants to improve safety in Wisconsin’s schools. The bill guarantees that every school in Wisconsin has the opportunity to apply and access funding to make critical infrastructure upgrades and improve staff training.

Senate Bill 152 ensures that all funds for the Alzheimer’s Family and Caregiver Support Program can be utilized to assist families and their loved ones by eliminating the outdated income cap eligibility barrier for the program.

Senate Bill 182 reduces barriers to entry for new EMS personnel by creating framework to reimburse students who successfully complete EMS classes and receive a license or certification. This ensures that the cost of classes is not a barrier for new EMS personnel.

Senate Bill 232 adds two new Child Advocacy Centers (CACs) to the current program. CACs work with law enforcement and are trained to interview child victims in a friendly manner and in a less traumatic environment than a police station. Law enforcement relies on CACs to combat child abuse, neglect, and trafficking.

Senate Bill 258 removes barriers to allow Advanced Practice Registered Nurses to practice within their scope and training. This change will help ease the provider shortage across Wisconsin to increase access to quality, affordable healthcare.

Senate President Mary Felzkowski issued the following statement:

Today, we showcased the broad range of issues that Senate Republicans are tackling to make life better for our constituents. From bolstering emergency response services and increasing funding for school safety, to protecting vulnerable children and increasing access to healthcare across the State, Senate Republicans took a slew of votes to support the day-to-day lives of our constituents. As we have come to expect, Senate Democrats voted against all these measures, choosing to play politics with Governor Evers over passing legislation to benefit Wisconsinites. It’s disappointing.
