MADISON, Wis. — Assembly Democratic Leader Greta Neubauer (D-Racine) released the following statement regarding floor session:
“We are less than a week away from the end of our fiscal year and we have yet to take meaningful action on a state budget—and working families across our state will be the ones who pay the price.
“It doesn’t need to be this way, but Republican Legislators have forced us into this position. Extreme members of the GOP caucus have thrown our state into chaos and uncertainty as they hold up the budget.
“It’s time for us to do the work the people of Wisconsin sent us here to do. But the GOP’s actions so far are inadequate. And today’s floor calendar was the latest example of Republicans failing to meet the moment. Even as the budget process is in complete chaos, the majority brought a series of unfunded bills to the floor that they alleged would receive funding in the budget. My biggest question right now is ‘what budget?’
“Republicans don’t have a plan to fund these bills, they don’t have a plan for our state budget, and they don’t have a plan to move our state forward. Wisconsin deserves better.”
