MADISON, Wis. — Today the Wisconsin State Legislature passed the 2025-2026 Biennial Budget. Representative Maureen McCarville (D- DeForest) released the following statement:

“This budget was a compromise and thanks to fair maps, we were able to get a much fairer budget for ALL of Wisconsin.”

“I am a firm believer of getting all sides to sit down at the table to work it out.  Both sides won’t get everything they want but hopefully they can end on something that will benefit everyone.”

“I think this budget is a step in the right direction, will we have to continue to sit down at the table? Yes, but this budget does include some very positive wins for a lot of Wisconsin.”

“This budget includes huge investments in special education, the most in 30 years, $330 million dollars for childcare, a $100 million increase for the UW System statewide, and $150 for the ARIP Program that will help repair rural roads and bridges. It also includes a $ 4 million dollar investment in the interchange upgrade that Highway V needs to increase development in our area.”

“There are programs and services that I will continue to fight for, including the UW MIA program funding, recognizing Veteran’s Day as a state holiday, and fully funding the general fund for our K-12 education. I will also tirelessly fight to extend the funding for the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship, this funding is vital to our district and to our state.”
