The Wisconsin Towns Association applauds the Legislature, the Joint Committee on Finance, and Governor Evers for their leadership passing and signing Act 15, a state budget that delivers robust support for local governments and rural Wisconsin. Act 15 demonstrates a strong commitment to supporting the backbone of Wisconsin’s rural communities – our local roads and bridges – ensuring safer travel, economic vitality, and enhanced connectivity for residents and businesses alike.

“This budget builds upon previous investments, providing substantial funding to improve local and agricultural roads which are vital for farmers, small businesses, and the efficient transportation of goods to market,” said Tom Winker, WTA President. “Targeted investment in small bridge infrastructure will additionally bolster safety and resilience, preserving the essential links that connect towns and agricultural producers to broader markets and opportunities.”

Mike Koles, WTA Executive Director added, “We commend this week’s bipartisan action and passage of a state budget that prioritizes critical investment in local infrastructure, including new investment in small bridges, a crucial next step in addressing vulnerabilities in our local transportation system. This forward-thinking budget demonstrates a clear understanding of the vital role well-maintained local infrastructure plays in fostering economic growth and ensuring safe and reliable transportation networks.”

The Wisconsin Towns Association appreciates the time and energy that state leaders have invested in this budget process and thank all involved for their commitment to towns and local government.
