WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for electing women, endorsed Justice Anita Earls for reelection to the North Carolina state Supreme Court and Judge Chris Taylor for the Wisconsin state Supreme Court. With the chaos coming out of Washington, state Supreme Courts are at the forefront of the fight to protect Americans’ rights and freedoms.

“North Carolina Republicans have repeatedly attempted to disenfranchise voters, which is why it is critical Democrats flip the balance of the court in 2028. That begins with reelecting Justice Anita Earls in 2026,” said EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler. “Justice Earls has dedicated her career to upholding the rule of law and defending equality and voting rights. EMILYs List is proud to endorse Justice Earls and continue working towards a progressive majority that will uphold North Carolinians’ rights and freedoms.”

“Judge Chris Taylor has spent her career ensuring that every person is treated fairly under the law. From her work strengthening protections for survivors of violence to her commitment to safeguarding the rights of all Wisconsinites, she has shown integrity, independence, and a deep respect for justice,” said EMILYs List President Jessica Mackler.

Justice Anita Earls is the Senior Associate Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court and a nationally recognized civil rights attorney with more than 30 years of experience. She has represented clients in cases involving voting rights, school desegregation, and employment discrimination in both state and federal courts. Justice Earls founded the Southern Coalition for Social Justice, where she served as executive director for a decade. She previously worked in the Clinton administration as deputy assistant attorney general in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division, and she has served on the North Carolina State Board of Elections, the Equal Access to Justice Commission, and as co-chair of Governor Cooper’s Task Force on Racial Equity in Criminal Justice.

Judge Chris Taylor currently serves on the Wisconsin Court of Appeals and has previously served on the Dane County Circuit Court. A lifelong advocate for justice and fairness, she has been a leader in strengthening protections for survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence, defending public safety, and ensuring access to health care. Prior to serving on the bench, Judge Taylor represented her community in the Wisconsin State Assembly for nearly a decade, where she fought to protect voting rights, expand affordable health care, and defend democracy. Before her legislative career, she worked as an attorney and policy director for Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin, championing reproductive freedom and the right of every individual to make personal, private health care decisions.
