The Environmental Defense Fund Action launched new ads criticizing U.S. Rep. Derrick Van Orden for voting to “give wealthy elites another tax break.”

EDF Action is spending $504,000 on 30-second and 15-second versions of the ad. The spots will air on TV and streaming services, such as Hulu and YouTube, in the Prairie du Chien Republican’s 3rd CD.

The ads point to Van Orden’s support for the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. A voice-over says viewers already know Van Orden voted for “the largest Medicaid cut in history.”

“A quarter of nursing homes forced to close, rural hospitals in Wisconsin at risk of closure, and tens of thousands of Wisconsinites could lose health coverage,” the narrator says. “But did you know Van Orden’s vote could raise electricity costs in Wisconsin $300 a year? All so Van Orden could get wealthy elites another tax break. Tell Derrick Van Orden: stop making us pay more.”

Meanwhile, the Dem group Main Street Action announced today it also plans to target Van Orden on the One Big Beautiful Bill Act through a campaign that includes billboards, digital spots and canvassing.

A spokesperson said the billboards are up, and the digital spots are coming. The group is hiring an organizer in the 3rd CD, and the budget for ads is $25,000, though that is expected to climb.
