MADISON, Wis – Yesterday, Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin announced they will pause scheduling abortion services starting October 1st, 2025.
Representative Randy Udell (D-47th District) released the following statement:
“This summer’s Big Bad Bill ended Medicaid coverage for reproductive services, including postpartum care and cancer screenings, for any clinic that also provides abortion services. Because of this, Planned Parenthood has halted their abortion services in Wisconsin.
“Since Roe V. Wade was overturned, states with abortion bans have seen their maternal mortality rate nearly double. Without the Wisconsin Supreme Court, Republican efforts would have added Wisconsin to that list by resurrecting the 1849 abortion ban.
“Whether personal or life-saving, abortion is healthcare. We are fortunate that abortion remains legal in Wisconsin and that Planned Parenthood will still help patients locate other options, despite the life-threatening policies of the modern Republican platform.”
