Madison, Wis. — Today, State Senator Rachael Cabral-Guevara (R-Fox Crossing) and State Representative Lisa Subeck (D-Madison) introduced the Rick Johnson Parkinson’s Disease Registry legislation with the support of the Parkinson’s Disease Alliance of Wisconsin.
State Senator Rachael Cabral-Guevara, a nurse practitioner, released the following statement.
“For too many folks, Parkinson’s is a silent battle. It is more than just a tremor; it is a relentless, progressive disease that impacts speech, balance, and independence. And right now, when patients and their doctors are looking for answers, we are fighting blind,” said Sen. Cabral-Guevara.
This proposal would establish a Parkinson’s disease registry housed at the University of Wisconsin Population Health Sciences department.
“By establishing our own registry at the UW-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health, we are empowering our world-class researchers with the information they need to accelerate discoveries right here in Wisconsin,” said Sen. Cabral-Guevara.
