WEST ALLIS, Wis. – Today, Representative Angelito Tenorio (D-14), proudly kicked off Filipino American History Month.
Rep. Tenorio said, “As Wisconsin’s first Filipino American state legislator, I am honored to celebrate the countless Filipino Americans whose leadership, resilience, and cultural richness have shaped our communities for centuries.”
“Filipinos first arrived in the United States 438 years ago. Today, we are the third largest Asian American and Pacific Islander community and one of the fastest-growing racial demographic groups in the United States,” said Rep. Tenorio. “Our community has made profound contributions in every sector including education, healthcare, public service, business, and the arts, and continues to strengthen the fabric of our state and nation.”
Rep. Tenorio is committed to ensuring that Filipino heritage and voices are visible and celebrated. He encourages his colleagues to join him in co-sponsoring his resolution proclaiming October 2025 as Filipino American History Month in the state of Wisconsin. He also invites elected officials and the public to attend a celebration honoring Filipino American History Month on Wednesday, October 29 at noon in the Wisconsin State Capitol Rotunda.
