MADISON, Wis. — As the GOP-led government shutdown continues, Seventh Congressional District Representative and GOP gubernatorial frontrunner Tom Tiffany is spending his night at a lavish fundraiser with some of Wisconsin’s wealthiest donors, including GOP megadonor Liz Uihlein. Tickets cost as much as $20,000. Last week, Tiffany walked away from efforts to prevent a government shutdown to focus on his next career move.
“We are several days into a government shutdown, and Tom Tiffany is confirming that he cares more about courting big-dollar donors than helping his constituents,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson Philip Shulman. “Tom Tiffany is selling his agenda to the highest bidder, and while he is out rubbing elbows with mega-donors, 18,000 federal workers across Wisconsin are worrying if they’ll receive their next paycheck.”
