Madison, WI – Today, Representative Cindi Duchow (R-Delafield) joined her Assembly colleagues in passing a workforce housing package designed to lower home prices and increase housing availability across Wisconsin.
Excessive regulations can drive up housing costs, with studies estimating that zoning and permitting rules add up to $88,000 to the price of a new home. Assembly Bill 453 streamlines local zoning processes, enabling developers to start residential projects more quickly. By reducing bureaucratic delays and increasing transparency, this bill aims to cut costs and make housing more affordable for Wisconsin families.
“Simplifying regulations benefits consumers by fostering a more competitive housing market,” said Rep. Duchow. “By improving collaboration between local governments and developers, we can ensure Wisconsin remains a place where families can afford to live and thrive.”
Additionally, the Assembly adopted Rep. Duchow’s resolution, AJR 96, designating October 2025 and 2026 as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This resolution highlights the importance of early detection and access to screenings, treatments, and care for those affected by breast cancer. “Raising awareness saves lives,” said Rep. Duchow. “This resolution underscores our commitment to supporting Wisconsinites facing this challenging diagnosis.”
Having passed the Assembly, the workforce housing package now moves to the State Senate for consideration.
