PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, Wisc. — On Tuesday, Congressman Derrick Van Orden released the following statement in response to Democrat Mark Pocan hosting campaign-funded, politically motivated town hall in La Crosse during a government shutdown.
“If Mark Pocan is so serious about healthcare and driving down costs, then he should be in Washington, funding the government and doing his job. Instead, Pocan is in a district he was not elected to represent, angry that I won’t let illegal aliens have government-funded health care when seniors and veterans don’t have access to their health care as a result of the Democrats’ shutdown. Add this to the fact that he voted to cut WIC and you know Mark Pocan isn’t working for Wisconsin. I’m working every day to fund our government to ensure the $50B I worked to secure for rural health care and $500 million in BadgerCare dollars I fought for actually makes it to Wisconsin.”
