MADISON– The Wisconsin State Assembly was in session today and passed a package of housing bills. Rep. Robyn Vining (D-Wauwatosa) released the following statement:

“Wisconsinites deserve affordable housing. Today we passed several bipartisan bills that address the cost of housing, but this isn’t enough. If we continue to fail to fund the schools, housing costs will continue to rise. 96 of 99 Assembly Districts have seen referendums on their ballot since 2024, driving up property taxes and thus–the costs of already unaffordable housing.

“We can’t keep asking voters to raise their property taxes to fund our schools. We must address the issue at its core–failing to fund the schools raises the cost of living and prevents Wisconsin children from getting the education they deserve.

“It is time for us to finally fund the schools to lower the cost of living and give all Wisconsin children access to quality education so we can move forward, together.”

Rep. Vining represents the 13th Assembly District, which includes Elm Grove, and parts of Wauwatosa and Brookfield. For more information visit Rep. Vining’s website here.
