MADISON, Wis. — Late last month, WI-07 Rep. Tom Tiffany threw his hat into the governor’s race, stepping into a spotlight that exposes his chilling record of trying to ban abortion with almost no exceptions. What’s even more unsettling? Tiffany can’t seem to clearly state his stance on abortion.

During his announcement on the right-wing Dan O’Donnell radio show, Tiffany claimed he did not support a 6-week abortion ban, despite previously co-sponsoring a bill that would do exactly that. Then, in a baffling shift, he said as governor he would have to evaluate legislation that could ban abortion earlier than the current 20-week law. Even scarier, he admitted that the legislation he supported forced Planned Parenthood to stop providing abortion services in Wisconsin.

“Tom Tiffany’s abortion record is a real life horror movie — he wants to control women’s health care decisions and restrict access to critical services,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson Philip Shulman. “His support for extreme abortion bans isn’t just scary rhetoric — it’s an alarming blueprint that would harm Wisconsin families.”

Previously, Tiffany touted endorsements from the frighteningly extreme anti-abortion group Wisconsin Family Council, opposed the Right to Contraception Act, and signed an amicus brief that ultimately overturned Roe v. Wade.
