“An activist Supreme Court and a progressive administration have undermined legislative oversight”

Delafield, Wis. – IRG Action Fund’s Jake Curtis will testify in front of a joint Wisconsin Senate Committee on Licensing, Regulatory Reform, State and Federal Affairs and Assembly Committee on Government Operations, Accountability, and Transparency hearing at 10:00 AM on Thursday.

WHY IT MATTERS:

The Committee is considering bills related to Administrative Law reform, which could help rein in runaway state bureaucracy.  According to polling from IRG Action Fund’s Partner, the Institute for Reforming Government, 32% of Wisconsinites say the Legislature should make major policy decisions, while only 8% favor state bureaucrats doing so.

THE QUOTE:

“Wisconsin once set the standard for practical and common sense limits on an unelected bureaucracy. But in recent years, an activist Supreme Court and a progressive administration have undermined legislative oversight,” said Jake Curtis. “The proposals before the Legislature, including a regulatory budget and sunset review, are strong steps toward restoring Wisconsin’s leadership in administrative reform.”
