Madison – Today, the Wisconsin State Assembly recognized Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Matthew Trumbo as the First Responder of the Year for the 15th Assembly District. State Representative Adam Neylon (R-Pewaukee) presented the award at a ceremony in the State Capitol, where first responders from across the state were honored for their exceptional service and sacrifice.
Deputy Trumbo has served with the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department for 11 years, consistently demonstrating professionalism, leadership and a deep commitment to the community. Known for his strong work ethic and sound decision-making, Deputy Trumbo routinely goes above and beyond in his duties. A dedicated Field Training Officer and an active member of the Tactical Enforcement Unit, Deputy Trumbo’s calm and organized response during a recent critical incident exemplifies his ability to lead under pressure. His quick thinking, clear communication and effective coordination of resources were commended by his superiors and played a key role in the successful management of the scene.

The First Responder of the Year awards are presented annually by the Wisconsin State Assembly to recognize emergency personnel who go above and beyond the call of duty to keep their communities safe.
