The spot targets rural farmers and will run on farmer-focused YouTube and TV channels
Today, the DNC launched a new ad campaign targeting vulnerable Republican Reps. Steil and Van Orden to hold them accountable for going along with Trump’s trade war, which has ravaged Wisconsin farmers. Farmers across the country are facing skyrocketing costs, including rising equipment and fertilizer costs that are approaching “disastrous levels.” Wisconsin soybean farmers have been hit particularly hard by Trump’s trade war as China refuses to buy American soybeans, locking U.S. farmers out of their biggest market.

The new ad features soybean farmer John Bartman, who calls on voters to hold Republicans accountable for supporting Trump’s trade war, which has harmed his fifth-generation farm. The spot targets farmers and rural persuadable voters in CD-1 and CD-3 and runs on farmer-focused YouTube and TV channels.
DNC Deputy Executive Director Libby Schneider released the following statement:
“We’re in harvest season and Wisconsin farmers are in crisis. Congressmen Steil and Van Orden have done nothing to stop Trump’s trade war, which has increased their costs and decimated the U.S. soybean market. The DNC’s new soybean ad campaign will help ensure voters across CD-1 and CD-3 know that Trump and his Republican allies in Congress are at fault for their rising costs. Democrats are fighting to lower costs for American farmers while Republicans are stealing their markets and fighting to bail out foreign economies.”
