MADISON, WI – This morning, the Wisconsin State Assembly recognized one first responder from each Assembly District as First Responders of the Year. For the 87th Assembly District, State Representative Brent Jacobson (R – Mosinee) selected Kimberly Allard, who serves as a telecommunicator for the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Department. Following this award ceremony, Rep. Brent Jacobson released the following statement:
“I am proud to recognize Telecommunicator Allard with this award,” said Rep. Jacobson. “For over a decade, she has shown tremendous dedication and unwavering professionalism in her service to the people of Waupaca County. Today’s award is a small signal of the gratitude we owe to all the first responders serving the 87th Assembly District.”
The “First Responder of the Year” award was created in 2019 to recognize the hometown heroes who serve in emergency services. State Representatives from each legislative district seek nominations from their communities and select one person who best exemplifies community service, selflessness, and dedication. Telecommunicator Allard was selected for her role in de-escalating a high-stakes standoff with an armed individual experiencing a mental health crisis.
“My office received many worthy nominations, and choosing just one to be recognized for this honor was difficult,” said Rep. Jacobson. “The strength of our communities lies in the selflessness of all the men and women who work to keep us safe. Thank you to Telecommunicator Allard, and all the other emergency response professionals in our district, for your commitment to the people in our community.”
