MADISON, Wis – Today, Assembly Republicans unanimously voted down an amendment that would have urged the Trump Administration to release documents, files, and court records relating to the crimes of child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. These investigative files are commonly referred to as “the Epstein Files.” Representative Anderson offered the following statement.
“I have worked with victims of domestic abuse and human trafficking. These crimes are heartbreaking and horrendous. We voted today to increase penalties for human trafficking and trafficking of children, but when it comes to those at the highest levels of power and influence engaging in these crimes, Assembly Republicans don’t have the same standards.”
“Their refusal to support this basic request of the federal government sends a signal that victims do not deserve justice. It is shameful that our colleagues across the aisle cannot agree that perpetrators should be held accountable for their actions, regardless of status.”
