Public Comment Period Open Through Nov. 14

MADISON, Wis.
 – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is seeking public comment on a proposed variance to the Willow Flowage Scenic Waters Area Master Plan.

As described in Chapter NR 44 of the Wisconsin Administrative Code, a master plan variance is a change in the use or management of an area that is consistent with the area’s land management classification and objectives.

The proposed variance would authorize expanded parking at the Sandy Landing Lot on Willow Dam Road, the development of a new parking area for carry-in/carry-out access to the Upper Tomahawk River on Cedar Falls Road and the establishment of a campground host site.

Located in west central Oneida County, the Willow Flowage Scenic Waters Area is a large reservoir with over 70 miles of shoreline, many islands, numerous boat landings and rustic camping opportunities. The Natural Resources Board approved the Willow Flowage Scenic Waters Area Master Plan in April 2016.

The public can review the draft variance by visiting the DNR’s Willow Flowage Scenic Waters Area Master Plan webpage.

The public is encouraged to submit comments regarding the proposed parking and host campsite variance to the Willow Flowage Scenic Waters Area Master Plan. Submit comments by Friday, Nov. 14, 2025, to:
