BIRCHWOOD, WI — State Senator Romaine Robert Quinn (R-Birchwood) announces his intention to seek reelection to the State Senate to represent the 23rd district.
“It is an honor serving in the State Senate and I am excited to build on that success to continue serving the rural communities of northern Wisconsin. There’s more work to be done to set our state on the right path. I look forward to meeting constituents, listening to their concerns, and earning their support as their voice in the State Capitol.”
Quinn noted that he would be running in a district in which the boundaries have changed since his last campaign.
“A liberal activist movement bent on gerrymandering the state divided the district in half midway through my term. The newly drawn 23rd Senate District is a place I have called home for most of my life. District lines may have changed, but what remains the same is my commitment to representing the values of northern Wisconsin.”
When Quinn was elected to the Senate in 2022 he represented over one-third of the population of the newly drawn district. He won with 57% of the vote, becoming the first Republican to represent the area in 36 years.
“Right now our state and our nation are at a crossroads on how to govern our future. Voters deserve a strong, conservative voice to bring leadership to Madison. I have demonstrated that I will defend conservative principles. Now more than ever it is time to stand firm for the values we hold dear.”
Quinn currently serves on the Joint Committee on Finance, which is charged with the review of all state appropriations and revenues, including the state budget. He also chairs the Senate Committee on Insurance, Housing, Rural Issues and Forestry and serves as vice-chair of the Senate Committee on Education.
“I am proud of my work on the state budget which delivers meaningful tax relief for working families and retirees, as well as investments in rural priorities like the agricultural roads improvement program and increased revenues for basic services in smaller municipalities that have been struggling to make ends meet.”
Quinn credits the budget reforms as a team effort among local legislative colleagues Representative Dave Armstrong (R-Rice Lake), Representative Karen Hurd (R-Withee), and Representative Rob Summerfield (R-Bloomer), as well as Senator Jesse James (R-Thorp) who currently represents the 23rd district but has chosen to run in a different Senate seat.
“I am grateful for their support in my reelection effort as we work together for the good of our state by retaining conservative majorities in the state legislature.”
This August, Romaine and his wife Racquel welcomed their third child into the world. He is a member of the Wisconsin Realtors Association, the Knights of Columbus, enjoys spending his time outdoors, and growing his herd of beef cattle.
“As a lifelong resident of northern Wisconsin raising a young family with my wife, I understand the challenges families face. I believe it is important to fight for the kind of Wisconsin we want to give our kids.”
Quinn began serving his community when he became the youngest mayor in Wisconsin at just 19 years old in 2009. He went on to serve for six years in the State Assembly, leaving the legislature for two years to start his family, before being elected to the State Senate in 2022.
“From Park Falls to Rice Lake to Neillsville to Medford and everywhere in between, I am excited to reconnect with familiar faces as well as meeting new residents and hearing how I can best represent their concerns.”
Quinn’s first term runs through the end of next year and he will seek reelection next fall.
