53 percent of voters concerned about Van Orden’s support for tariffs, cuts to Badgercare

EAU CLAIRE, Wisc. – This week, POLITICO reported on new polling that shows Rebecca Cooke, candidate for Congress in Wisconsin’s Third District, leading Rep. Derrick Van Orden 44 percent to 42 percent in a head-to-head matchup with 13 percent undecided. Rebecca Cooke issued the following statement:

“The people of West Central Wisconsin are sick and tired of Washington politicians like Derrick Van Orden who refuse to tackle the affordability crisis at the checkout line, the gas station, in housing and with child care. The tariffs Van Orden supports are making everything more expensive and jeopardizing our family farms. Van Orden’s vote to cut Badgercare will make health care more expensive for everyone while making it even harder to see a doctor during a rural health care crisis. Not only is Derrick Van Orden deeply unpopular, but his record in Congress—backing tax cuts for the ultra-rich while asking Wisconsin working families to do more with less—is toxic. My campaign is bringing people together around real solutions that lower costs, improve health care access and put an end to the culture of corruption in Washington.”

Rebecca is endorsed by U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders, U.S. Senator Elissa Slotkin, 15 Members of Congress, State Senator Brad Pfaff, International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Councils 7 & 82, Office and Professional Employees International Union, Sheet Metal, Air, Rail, and Transportation (SMART) Union, UFCW Local 1473, Wisconsin Laborers’ District Council, American Association for Justice (AAJ), End Citizens United, the Blue Dog Coalition, the New Dem Action Fund, Elect Democratic Women, EMILY’s List, Welcome PAC and the National Coalition to Protect Social Security and Medicare PAC. She’s also garnered the support of a broad coalition of farmers, small business owners, educators and healthcare workers across western Wisconsin. View the full list of endorsers here.
