MADISON, WI – Today, Congressman Tom Tiffany (WI-07) called on Governor Tony Evers to hold Department of Public Instruction Superintendent Jill Underly accountable. Superintendent Underly was set to testify before a State Assembly Committee today on the cover-up of more than 200 teacher sexual misconduct cases. Instead, she skipped the hearing to receive an award in Indiana. Governor Evers has yet to comment on the scandal and continues to remain silent.

In the press conference, Congressman Tiffany called on Governor Evers to hold State Superintendent Underly accountable: “I would call on the governor at this point, do you find this acceptable? Is this acceptable what has gone on here in the state of Wisconsin? Because it’s clear now, as all of this has been detailed, this is systemic in the Department of Public Instruction at this point… If there is not going to be reform that fixes these problems, then I think it’s time for the governor to call on Jill Underly to either do her job or step aside.”
