MADISON, Wis. — Yesterday, after 40 days of the US House being on vacation due to the GOP government shutdown, WisDems launched a mobile billboard calling out Derrick Van Orden for not doing his job and focusing on other priorities, like tweeting and “wanks in the woods.” Van Orden, whose votes for the Big Ugly Bill, and now his refusal to help open the government, has threatened health care access and food security for tens of thousands of his constituents.

“Whether it’s trying to cover up for him and his buddies in the legislature, refusing to fund veterans homes or bragging about wanking in the woods, Derrick Van Orden refuses to face the very people he represents,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson Philip Shulman. “It’s obvious that Van Orden has become completely out of touch with Western Wisconsin as he’s become a DC politician more concerned with scoring points online than protecting his constituents’ health care and food security.”

Van Orden, who previously threatened to defund the Mayo Clinic multiple times and took a victory lap on his constituents losing health care and food security, endorsed the WisDems billboard, saying “this is awesome” in response to the party noting that nearly 300,000 Wisconsinites could lose their health care because Van Orden and the GOP want to cut ACA funding.
