Former Dane County Executive Joe Parisi, who led Wisconsin’s fastest growing county for 13 years, has joined the Board of Directors for One City Schools. Parisi served as the county’s chief executive from 2011 until 2024, overseeing the development and implementation of a nearly $1 billion annual county budget while creating a record sized surplus and rainy day fund. He helped Dane County navigate historic growth while building innovative public services and partnerships to help meet the community’s increasing needs.
“Joe is a tireless advocate for early education and the hard work required to close achievement gaps, and we couldn’t be more honored to have him continue his community service with One City Schools,” One City CEO and Founder Kaleem Caire said. “Joe helped create and expand Early Childhood Zones in the neighborhoods of our communities disproportionately impacted by poverty and he’s passionate about creating opportunities for all. Joe believes so strongly in our young people and as County Executive pioneered countless partnerships that continue to make a real difference,” Caire added.
Prior to his service as County Executive, Joe represented Madison’s east side and Monona in the Wisconsin State Legislature and oversaw elections as the Dane County Clerk.
“Joe’s belief in One City’s mission to help all of our young Scholars succeed and create paths for our next generation of leaders is deeply impactful,” Caire said. “Joe knows how to bring diverse groups of people together from all walks of life to get a job done and we are so grateful to have his experience, passion, integrity, and community-first approach supporting One City Schools.”
Parisi began his service on the One City Schools’ Board of Directors in late October.
