(Madison, WI) — Natural Allies for a Clean Energy Future announced today that former Wisconsin Department of Revenue Secretary and longtime public servant Peter Barca will join the Natural Allies Leadership Council, leading the organization’s efforts in the Badger State.

As Wisconsin’s economy continues to expand with new manufacturing, data center, and technology investment, energy demand is rapidly increasing. Natural Allies is focused on helping Wisconsin meet these needs sustainably by advancing a balanced energy approach that partners renewables with natural gas to cut emissions, strengthen reliability, and keep costs affordable for families and businesses.

“I’m honored to join Natural Allies and help advance smart, pragmatic energy solutions that work for Wisconsin,” said Peter Barca. “Our state thrives when we find common ground, and that same spirit should guide our energy policy. By embracing both renewables and natural gas, we can build a cleaner, more reliable energy future that supports job growth and keeps our economy strong.”

Barca joins an accomplished group of Democratic leaders on the Natural Allies Leadership Council, including former U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA), former Congressman Tim Ryan (D-OH), former Congressman Kendrick Meek (D-FL), and former Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter (D) — all committed to building a durable bipartisan consensus around clean, reliable, and affordable energy.

“Peter Barca’s leadership and deep understanding of Wisconsin’s economy will be a tremendous asset to our work,” said Natural Allies Co-Chair Mary Landrieu. “He has always put practical solutions ahead of partisan politics, and that’s exactly the approach we need to strengthen our energy future.”

“Peter has been a trusted voice for working people and a champion of innovation,” added Natural Allies Co-Chair Tim Ryan. “He understands that natural gas and renewables working together can power growth, lower costs, and meet our climate goals at the same time.”

“Peter embodies Wisconsin’s pragmatic spirit — he listens, builds consensus, and leads with common sense,” said Susan Waller, Executive Director of Natural Allies. “His voice will help guide a constructive dialogue about how natural gas and renewable energy can work together to ensure a cleaner, more reliable, and more affordable energy future for every Wisconsinite.”

As Natural Allies expands into the Midwest, the organization aims to elevate energy strategies that ensure reliability and affordability while helping Wisconsin and other states meet ambitious clean energy targets.
