November 2025 – Spano Pratt Executive Search is pleased to announce Major General (Ret.) Brian Winski as the new President and CEO of the War Memorial Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. General Winski will become the sixth leader in the Center’s 68- year history.

General Winski will begin his tenure in the Spring of 2026. A decorated officer, Winski retired from the US Army as a two-star general after 37 years of distinguished service. His career included service across the globe and leadership of the infantry and combined arms units, including command of the 101st Airborne Division. Most recently, he served as the President and CEO of the Fort Campbell Historical Foundation, leading a $40 million effort to build a world-class museum.

A native of Wisconsin and graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, General Winski was commissioned as an infantry officer through UWM’s ROTC program, with his commissioning ceremony at the War Memorial Center. He is a graduate of Airborne, Air Assault, and Ranger schools, a Master-rated parachutist, and a recipient of the Combat Infantryman’s badge with a star.

General Winski shared “the momentum and enthusiasm surrounding the War Memorial Center are inspiring. The Center was created as cultural and community hub dedicated to honoring the fallen, serving Veterans, fostering public dialogue, and inspiring future generations to value service and sacrifice above self. Under my leadership, will continue to uphold that solemn mission.”

War Memorial Center Chairman of the Board of Trustees Andy Gordon adds, “We are excited for this next era of leadership. General Winski brings unmatched leadership experience and perspective from his decades of service around the world. From his multiple combat deployments after 9/11 to his work as a corporate facilitator translating battlefield lessons into business and leadership principles, we are honored to have him at the helm.”
