Winter Weather Awareness Week November 17-21

West Bend, WI – Winter weather is just around the corner, so now is a great time to make sure you are winter weather ready!

Winter weather creates an increased risk for car crashes, cold-weather illnesses & injuries and the potential for disruption of power, heat and water that could last for several hours or days. Winter storms include blizzards that can bring extreme cold, freezing rain, snow, ice and chilling winds.

Be prepared for winter weather at home, at work and in your car. Know the risk for winter storms by paying attention to weather reports and warnings. Create an emergency supply kit for your car that includes jumper cables, sand, a flashlight, warm clothes and blankets, bottled water, a snow shovel and non-perishable snacks. At home, ensure that your chimney, furnace and other heating sources are well maintained. Properly install carbon monoxide detectors throughout your home to monitor air quality and avoid carbon monoxide poisoning. Review your company’s processes for winter weather safety and alerts for weather closings.
