Stevens Point, Wis., Nov. 24, 2025 – U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development (RD) State Director Andrew C. Iverson announced today that St. Croix Electric Cooperative received a $1 million loan to re-lend to Sailer Food Market and Meat Processing, Inc. in Wilson. The company will use the funds to expand their meat processing operation into the snack meats market.
The project will save 28 jobs and create an additional five jobs.
“We are proud to be part of this growth and expansion in western Wisconsin. This project will boost the economy by maintaining and adding new jobs to the area. The REDLG program demonstrates President Trump and Secretary Rollins’ support for innovations that increase productivity and options for rural consumers while creating jobs for people in rural communities in Wisconsin,” Iverson said.
The funding is through the Rural Economic Development Loan and Grant (REDLG) program. The REDLG program provides funding for rural projects through local utility organizations. USDA provides loans to local utilities which they, in turn, pass through to local businesses (ultimate recipients) for projects that will create and retain employment in rural areas.
