Milwaukee, WI: The Jewish Caucus of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin condemns in the strongest terms the racist remarks made by President Trump during his tirade at the White House Cabinet meeting on December 2nd.
Donald Trump used words such as garbage and stinks to describe an entire population of Somali immigrants, including Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN).
Following the meeting, Trump’s administration instituted a ban on 19 countries for immigration; this halted green card applications and legal status for thousands of people seeking to be in the United States to claim the American Dream upon which our country was founded.
It’s no secret this caucus has disagreements with Rep. Omar. The fact remains that she is an American, an elected member of Congress, and a vehement fighter for her community. No disagreement delegitimizes a person or their right to be an American.
President Trump should reexamine his use of the word garbage and direct it toward his own remarks and racist policies.
