Hi, this is Senator Eric Wimberger, representing Northeast Wisconsin in the 2nd Senate District.
Christmas is just around the corner! Here in Madison, we just kicked off the celebrations by lighting the 2025 Wisconsin State Capitol Christmas Tree. I’m proud to say this year’s tree hails from Oconto County in the heart of Northeastern Wisconsin.
Thanks to Dave and Mary Vander Velden from Gillett for sharing this massive, 30-foot balsam fir with the people of Wisconsin.
The theme for this year’s Capitol Christmas Tree is “The Learning Tree,” and it’s decorated with ornaments made by students from across the state celebrating the work of our teachers and school staff.
Wisconsin’s Christmas tree industry is one of the largest in the nation, typically ranking in the top ten for trees grown and harvested each year. Some have even been displayed at the White House. When you buy a tree from a local farm, you’re supporting a small business and buying a product grown in your community, while also making memories with your family.
If you’re coming through Madison during the Christmas season or just looking for more holiday fun, I encourage you to come visit the State Capitol to see this year’s Christmas tree.
