MADISON, Wis., –Dec. 5, 2025– “Today, we thank Governor Evers for keeping Wisconsin’s smoke-free air law strong. Assembly Bill 211 was not a niche “cigar bar” bill. It was far more comprehensive and would have allowed the use of cigars, pipe tobacco, hookah, and brown cigarettes in taverns again. This bill would have moved Wisconsin in the wrong direction and would have created a significant loophole in our state’s strong and widely popular smoke-free air law. Tobacco use remains the leading cause of preventable death. We appreciate the Governor’s veto and look forward to working with lawmakers on policies that reduce the state’s tobacco burden, not add to it.”
