WISCONSIN – On January 1, Protect Our Care is launching a new digital ad campaign holding House Republicans, including Representative Derrick Van Orden (WI-03), accountable for their devastating decision to rip Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits away from hard-working Americans in the new year. On January 1st, the health insurance premium hikes Republicans shut down the government over officially go into effect, raising costs for nearly 22 million and forcing one in four ACA marketplace enrollees off their insurance. Families are already bracing for impact. They’ve been tightening their budgets, closing down small businesses, and reaching into their savings in hopes of meeting skyrocketing premium costs.
“The American people can’t afford another year of Trump and the GOP hiking the cost of health care while handing out tax breaks to billionaires and big corporations,” said Protect Our Care Wisconsin State Director Joe Zepecki. “While Trump and his ultra-rich friends celebrate the holidays in their luxury Mar-a-Lago estates, working families across the country are making impossible choices between paying for health care and keeping a roof over their children’s heads. The Republican war on health care is bad policy, bad politics, and just plain wrong. Voters will continue to hammer GOP lawmakers like Representative Derrick Van Orden on the airwaves and at the ballot box until Trump and Republicans give back the tax credits they stole from working families.”
The ads will launch in the following districts: Derrick Van Orden (WI-03), David Schweikert (AZ-01), Juan Ciscomani (R-AZ-06), David Valadao (CA-22), Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-01), Tom Barrett (MI-07), Mike Lawler (NY-17), Rob Bresnahan (PA-08), Scott Perry (R-PA-10), and Ryan Mackenzie (PA-07).
