Bipartisan List Includes Sheriffs from All Across Wisconsin

FOND DU LAC, WI – Today, candidate for Attorney General Eric Toney announced his first wave of law enforcement endorsements. Since announcing his campaign in late October, a bipartisan group of 44 current and former sheriffs across the state have committed their support to Toney’s campaign.

Toney has committed to putting public safety over politics and giving law enforcement the support that they need as Attorney General.

“Eric Toney is the hands-on partner that law enforcement needs in the Attorney General’s office. Even as the smallest county as the state, Eric has been there to listen, offer solutions, and work alongside me to make our communities safer,” said Menominee County Sheriff Rebecca Smith (D).  “I’m proud to endorse him for Attorney General.”

“Josh Kaul has had his chance — in fact, he’s had almost 8 years of chances,” said Oconto County Sheriff Todd Skarban (R). “It’s time that we have an Attorney General who actually works with law enforcement to keep our communities safer, instead of using the office to prop up their own political agenda. It’s time for a change. It’s time to elect Eric Toney as Wisconsin’s next Attorney General.”

“I’m endorsing Eric because of his commitment to supporting law enforcement and to refocusing the Department of Justice on their central goal: keeping Wisconsin families and communities safe,” said Ozaukee County Sheriff Christy Knowles (R). “After speaking with him, I was impressed by his specific priorities and proposals to address issues that actually impact our ability to do our jobs every day. I trust Eric Toney to get our DOJ back on track and make Wisconsin a better and safer place.”
