Madison, WI – Rep. Allen released the following statement on the passage of AJR 102 in the Assembly:
“The citizens of Wisconsin should have their say on whether the government may discriminate against or grant preferential treatment on the basis of race, sex, or other immutable traits.
“Making hiring, admissions, or contract decisions on the basis of skin color or sex is, by definition, discriminatory even if done by a public entity.”
AJR 102 aims to prohibit race- or sex-based discrimination and preferences in state and local government operations, promoting decisions based on merit instead. If adopted by the Senate, the measure would appear on the November ballot for Wisconsinites to consider.
