MADISON, WI – Today, the Wisconsin State Assembly passed four bills authored by State Representative William Penterman (R-Hustisford). These proposals strengthen public safety, keep students safe, and eliminate outdated government regulation.

Assembly Bill 89 — Combats retail theft sprees by allowing prosecutors to aggregate the value of stolen property or merchandise from multiple thefts within a county so that penalties reflect the total amount of the goods stolen.

Assembly Bill 394 — Strengthens driver education and student safety by requiring all new drivers to receive instruction on school bus safety, student crossings, bus lights, and when motorists must stop for a stopped bus.

Assembly Bill 395 — Keeps kids safe by allowing school districts to equip school buses with audio recording devices.

Assembly Bill 399 — Deletes outdated and unnecessary provisions from state statutes, thereby shrinking government.

“I am proud to author legislation that will have a practical and meaningful impact.” said Representative Penterman. “It is an honor to get things done on behalf of the hardworking people of Dodge and Jefferson Counties.”
