Plant Medicine at the Crossroads – ICIA’s fourth annual regional summit brings together Native and non-native industry leaders to discuss state-wide cannabis policy and reform
WISCONSIN, Jan. 21, 2026 — On Feb. 25-26, the 4th annual Great Lakes Indigenous Cannabis and Hemp Summit will convene Tribal leaders, state and federal policymakers, industry operators, medical professionals, academics, and advocates from across the Great Lakes region and beyond. Hosted by the national Indigenous Cannabis Industry Association, the summit will include a full day of programming on Wednesday, Feb. 25, and a Tribal Leadership convening on Feb. 26 at Lake of the Torches Resort & Casino in Lac du Flambeau, Wisc. “Building on the momentum of our past national and state summits, the gathering centers Indigenous voices, solutions, and pathways forward–rooted in sovereignty, culture, and community,” said Rob Pero, founder of the Indigenous Cannabis Industry Association and member of the Bad River Band of the Lake Superior Tribe of Chippewa Indians. Pero is also the founder of Wisconsin’s first independent Indigenous owned hemp farm and cannabis retailer Canndigenous.
On Feb. 25, the summit will feature keynotes and break out sessions led by industry professionals from across the Great Lakes region. Highlights on the agenda include:
- Wisconsin medical cannabis legislative updates
- Federal cannabis rescheduling and policy implications
- Federal hemp language and Farm Bill impacts
- Industrial hemp, climate-smart agriculture and supply chains
- Intertribal trade and cross-state collaboration
- Tribal and non-tribal operator updates from the Great Lakes region
- Medical professional and academic research perspectives
- Sovereignty-driven regulatory and business models
- Industry experts, policymakers and Indigenous leaders
A portion of the proceeds from the summit will benefit the Wisconsin Wellness campaign, a joint effort of the Indigenous Cannabis Industry Association and the Wisconsin Tribal Task Force on Cannabis to promote the accessibility of plant medicine in Wisconsin.
