Madison, WI – Representative Cindi Duchow (R–Delafield) voted this week to protect Wisconsin’s land, resources, and security by supporting legislation that strengthens conservation efforts while guarding against foreign influence in our state.
The Assembly passed legislation to continue the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Fund through 2028, ensuring continued support for parks, trails, wildlife habitat, and outdoor recreation across Wisconsin. Importantly, the bills reduce reliance on debt and increase direct funding, making the program more fiscally responsible and sustainable for the future.
“The Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Fund has helped preserve the natural beauty that makes Wisconsin such a great place to live,” said Rep. Duchow. “This legislation keeps that legacy going while taking a more responsible approach with taxpayer dollars.”
In addition, Rep. Duchow supported several measures aimed at protecting Wisconsin from foreign adversaries by safeguarding critical assets and information. These bills prevent foreign adversaries from owning Wisconsin farmland or forest land, block the use of foreign-developed genetic software by state institutions such as the University of Wisconsin, and secure our communications systems by banning foreign-made telecommunications equipment.
“These are commonsense steps to protect Wisconsin’s future,” Rep. Duchow said. “Our farmland, our data, and our infrastructure should never be controlled or accessed by foreign adversaries.”
The legislation approved by the Assembly will now be considered by the State Senate before advancing to the governor for final action.
