The Executive Committee of the Libertarian Party of Wisconsin (LPWI) unanimously issued the following resolution condemning the Trump administration’s unconstitutional and violent immigration enforcement actions and calling for the abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE):
Whereas, the Libertarian Party stands for the self-ownership, free movement, and free expression of individuals;
Whereas, the violation of the Constitutional rights of one is a violation on behalf of all, and a signal of broken faith between the state and the people;
Whereas, the killing of Renee Good at the hands of Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, on January 7, 2026, suffices as an instance of wanton disregard for these principles, and for the U.S. Constitution, as exercised by the state;
Whereas, Trump administration officials have asserted, without cause, that Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers have “absolute immunity” in their enforcement activities;
Whereas, Immigrations and Customs Enforcement officers have since continued to violate court injunctions, beat protesters, and execute detainees with the apparent blessing of the Trump administration;
Whereas, the administration and its deputies have, through these and other actions, evinced a flagrant and ongoing rejection of libertarian principles, Constitutional governance, individual rights, civil liberties, and popular welfare;
Now, therefore, be it resolved, that the Libertarian Party of Wisconsin condemns the immigration enforcement policy of the Trump administration;
Be it further resolved, that the Libertarian Party of Wisconsin rejects claims of Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers’ authority over and immunity from justice;
Be it further resolved, that the Libertarian Party of Wisconsin opposes the use of the National Guard for any purpose other than disaster relief;
Be it finally resolved, that the Libertarian Party of Wisconsin calls for the abolition of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.
ADOPTED unanimously by the Executive Committee of the Libertarian Party of Wisconsin, this 18th day of January, 2026.
