Madison, WI – In light of recent events unfolding in Minnesota, State Representative Sylvia Ortiz-Velez(D-Milwaukee) is calling on residents of the 8th Assembly District, the Milwaukee community, and all Wisconsinites to continue exercising their constitutional right to protest peacefully, while standing firm in defense of state authority and local decision-making.
“The images and events we’re seeing from Minnesota serve as a reminder of how quickly situations can escalate,” said Rep. Ortiz-Velez. “Wisconsinites have long demonstrated that we can make our voices heard while preserving peace, protecting our communities, and respecting our neighbors.”
Representative Ortiz-Velez encouraged demonstrators to express their patriotism and unity, express our shared values and a commitment to building a better future for all.
