WAUSAU, WI – Tom Tiffany, candidate for governor, unveiled a statewide digital and streaming ad buy as Wisconsin Democrats continue to block audits and hide how taxpayer money is spent. Despite billions in fraud being exposed just across the border in Minnesota, Governor Evers and Attorney General Josh Kaul refuse to allow audits of Wisconsin’s food stamp program, Medicaid system, or voter rolls.
“Transparency shouldn’t be partisan, yet Democrat politicians continue to stonewall audits of our food stamp and Medicaid programs as well as our voter rolls,” said Congressman Tom Tiffany. “As governor, I will restore honest government by opening the books, rooting out fraud, and making state government fully accountable in how it uses every taxpayer dollar.”
The ad comes after Governor Evers vetoed four additional state auditor positions last year. Attorney General Josh Kaul has also sued to block audits of our food stamp and Medicaid programs, as well as audits of our voter rolls to verify citizenship.
When WISN 12 News asked Governor Evers why he won’t release the food stamp data to determine whether there are bad apples committing fraud, Evers replied, “We feel confident in it.” He’s confident enough to say it, but not confident enough to open the books. As governor, Tom Tiffany will conduct audits, deliver full transparency to the taxpayers of Wisconsin, and ensure Minnesota-style fraud does not take root here.
The six-figure effort includes a digital and streaming ad titled “Don’t Think It Can’t Happen Here.” You can watch the ad here.
