MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsinites have been speaking out after Tom Tiffany said he hadn’t seen the video of Alex Pretti being killed by ICE agents days after the incident and contradicted his previous support for the Second Amendment in order to back Trump over American citizens. This weekend, hundreds of Wisconsinites in Tom Tiffany’s backyard protested ICE’s brutal and unlawful occupation across the river in Minnesota.
See below for what Wisconsinites have to say about Tom Tiffany:
CapTimes: Letter | Tiffany is either lying or is a coward
“Tiffany is either lying or he is a coward. If he watched it, he should tell us that truth.
[…]
Tiffany also made the grotesque suggestion that Pretti was responsible for his own death, saying people should consider the ramifications of carrying a gun, and that “cooperation is how you avoid tragic consequences.”
In one statement he denigrated both our First and Second Amendment rights. His comment is also remarkable for its hypocrisy: Tiffany has co-sponsored bills to legalize both open and concealed carry.
Tiffany had a choice: He could follow the lead of a Republican candidate for governor in Minnesota who withdrew because he could not support Trump’s retribution and the party that sponsors it, or he could demonstrate his fealty to Trump even if it means living within MAGA’s moral rot. We, the Wisconsin voters, will also have a choice to make in November.”
Wisconsin State Journal: LETTER TO THE EDITOR Tom Tiffany will put Donald Trump’s agenda before Wisconsin
“U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany, R-Minocqua, who is running for governor, stated that he didn’t see the videos of a man being killed by federal agents in Minneapolis. Really?
[…]
It’s pretty obvious that Tiffany is listening to President Donald Trump and will promote his ideas over what is best for the people of Wisconsin. We do not need another Trump supporter running our state.”
CapTimes: Opinion | Tom Tiffany’s dumber than a groundhog
“Even the 7th District’s Tom Tiffany, who happens to be running for governor and typically has lots to say about everything, initially threw up his hands, claiming that he hadn’t seen any videos of the killing, probably the only person in the entire state who hadn’t.
Tiffany, a Donald Trump sycophant, finally came slithering out from under his rock and suggested that Pretti brought it upon himself by having a firearm on him at the time of his death. Tiffany understood that this probably wasn’t a good time to upset the president by saying anything negative
And, sure enough, Trump the next day handed Tiffany his endorsement in the GOP primary. It remains to be seen whether this is a good thing for Tiffany’s gubernatorial ambitions.”
CapTimes: Opinion | Wisconsin’s Tom Tiffany chooses ignorance
“Tiffany, a career politician, became the presumptive nominee by serving in Congress and presenting himself in the gubernatorial race as a unblinking ally of the Trump administration.
That loyalty won him a Trump endorsement.
[…]
Candidates can disagree on issues, and Tiffany certainly has a right to his opinion.
But Wisconsinites have a right to expect that candidates for governor speak from a place of informed engagement, and with knowledge of the issues they discuss. They’re not getting that from Tom Tiffany.”
