In response to House Republicans and current gubernatorial candidates including Andy Biggs (AZ), David Schweikert (AZ), Byron Donalds (FL), Randy Feenstra (IA), John James (MI), and Tom Tiffany (WI), among others, voting to preserve Trump’s tariffs on Canada that are jacking up costs for Americans and hurting American workers and businesses, DGA Communications Director Sam Newton released the following statement:
“As Americans continue to bear the brunt of high costs on everything from housing to groceries, every congressional Republican running for governor voted to defend Trump’s deeply unpopular, cost-raising tariffs on Canada. Republican candidates got blown out of the water in New Jersey and Virginia in 2025 because Americans are tired of their disastrous economic agenda. Today’s vote only worsens the pain American families and businesses are already feeling and helps ensure the headwinds facing Republicans are going to be even worse in governors’ races across the country in 2026.”
