MILWAUKEE – On Monday, February 23, 2026, Representative Taylor, Vice Chair of the Wisconsin Legislative Black Caucus, will host ReEntry Unblemished – Policy Focused Edition as part of the caucus’ month-long Black History Month events. The program will take place at Infinite Church, 6750 North 43rd Street in Milwaukee. Doors open at 5:00 PM, and the program will run from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM.

ReEntry Unblemished – Policy Focused Edition is designed to center grassroots leadership and community-driven policy solutions addressing the barriers faced by individuals returning home from incarceration and others impacted by the justice system. The evening will begin with an informational presentation by Judge Milton Childs Jr. on pardons and expungements to help attendees better understand existing legal processes. This presentation is educational in nature and is separate from the policy working groups. Grassroots organizations will lead the policy working groups and guide structured discussions focused on key areas including supervision, housing, civic engagement, economic stability, and transformational justice. Community organizations will also be present to provide resources and support.

Representative Taylor issued the following statement:

“Reentry is not simply a personal journey; it is a community and policy issue that must be shaped by those closest to the impact. Grassroots leaders and directly impacted residents are leading this conversation because they understand the barriers firsthand and are best positioned to help shape effective solutions.

When individuals return home, they should not face unnecessary barriers to housing, employment, civic participation, or stability. If we are serious about public safety and strong communities, then we must also be serious about addressing the systems that stand in the way of successful reentry.

As we recognize Black History Month, we must also confront the disproportionate impact of the justice system on Black communities and commit ourselves to meaningful reform. This work is about dignity, opportunity, and ensuring that everyone has a fair chance to move forward.”

The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided, and parking is available on-site. Community members, advocates, media, and stakeholders are encouraged to attend.
