Funding Secured by US Senator Tammy Baldwin as Part of Recently Passed Bipartisan Government Funding Bill

Milwaukee, February 17, 2025 –Nonprofit Acts Housing has been awarded $1,000,000 in federal funding, secured by U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin (Wisconsin), as part of the recently passed bipartisan government funding bill. Acts Housing provides homebuyer and financial education and counseling, lending and real estate services, and home rehab coaching to aspiring homebuyers with income, credit, language, and other barriers.

The funding will support Acts Housing’s initiative aimed at increasing the supply of affordable housing. Launched in 2023, Acts Homes buys, rehabs in partnership with local contractors, and sells affordable homes to owner-occupants who have gone through a homebuyer education class. The homebuyer classes can be completed at any Milwaukee or Rock County HUD-certified agency. Sale proceeds are reinvested in a revolving fund to support continued acquisition and rehab activity. To date, Acts Homes has purchased and rehabbed more than 100 homes in Milwaukee and Rock County in the past three years.

“We are grateful to Senator Baldwin and those government leaders and partners who understand the importance and value of affordable housing as a foundation for strong communities,” said Michael Gosman, Acts Housing President & CEO. “This funding is a meaningful step toward strengthening neighborhoods and expanding access to housing where families can build futures.”

Statewide, Senator Baldwin secured nearly $7,000,000 in funding for Wisconsin nonprofits and communities to increase the construction and acquisition of affordable housing. Recipients include the City of Kenosha, Communities of Crocus, Habitat for Humanity of Waukesha and Jefferson Counties, Wild Rivers, Habitat for Humanity, and Veterans 1st of NEW. Overall, the funding package provides direct support for 48 Wisconsin projects.

“From housing and health care to workforce development and education, Acts Housing is honored to be included alongside dozens of Wisconsin organizations doing critical work across the state,” Gosman said.
