MADISON, Wis— Huma Ahsan’s grassroots, volunteer-driven campaign advances to the April 7 general election for Dane County Circuit Court Branch 1. In the Feb. 17 primary, Dane County voters supported the message and fundamental principles of the passionate, start-up campaign.
This campaign has never been about titles, appointments or endorsements,” said Huma. “It’s about justice and standing up when our foundational rights are treated as negotiable. Our campaign consists of a small, but mighty, group of volunteers on a shoestring budget, and still our message resonated with Dane County voters.”
The Dane County Circuit Court race is the first time Huma has campaigned for elected office. After more than 25 years of a legal career dedicated to fighting for underserved communities, Huma was compelled to run for the Dane County Circuit Court seat to ensure local courts remain fair, accessible, and rooted in our shared humanity.
“Our courts tell the story of us as a people; who we are and what we believe,” says Huma. “Who sits in this position of power will determine if all people of Dane County are seen and heard in our court system.”
