MADISON, WI – Today, the Assembly met for their second of potentially four session days this week. Rep. Palmeri released the following statement:
“Today, we voted on bills that were fast tracked so the majority party can adjourn on their arbitrary timeline. The majority party has decided the Assembly will be done this week, meaning we will be meeting for session at minimum 3 times this week. Instead of leaving, we should be leading,” stated Rep. Palmeri.
“What I find interesting, is that the bills we should be acting on with urgency, are those dying in committee this session. Legislation that would actually impact the day to day lives of our constituents. What are we doing here if were not taking up issues like expanding postpartum coverage, FoodShare, Knowles-Nelson, PFAS, special education reimbursements, capping prescription costs and healthy school meals for all? None have made it out of committee and to the floor this session.
“Our constituents don’t get to walk away from their bills, contaminated water, prescription costs, and feeding their family. We shouldn’t be walking away either.”
