MADISON, Wis— the Democratic Party of Dane County endorsed Huma Ahsan for Dane County Circuit Court Branch 1 in a near-unanimous vote on February 18. Dane Dems is an organization dedicated to supporting progressive candidates and policies in towns, villages and cities throughout the county and across our state and nation.
Ahsan advanced in the February 17 primary with a campaign team consisting of a small but mighty group of volunteers on a shoestring budget.
“Our campaign is made up of neighbors, friends, and moms determined to make sure our Dane County courts remain fair and accessible to everyone in this turbulent climate,” said Ahsan at the Dane Dems membership meeting. “While I ask for your endorsement, I want to assure you that I will be a fair judge for everyone in this county, whether you vote for me or not.”
The Dane County Circuit Court race is the first time Ahsan has campaigned for elected office. After more than 25 years in a legal career dedicated to fighting for underserved communities, Ahsan was compelled to run for the Dane County Circuit Court seat to ensure the law serves the people — all people — regardless of where they come from, how much they earn, or what language they speak.
Huma is a respected attorney, founder and principal of Madison Immigration Law, former appellate chief judge, and passionate advocate for justice, with more than 25 years of experience spanning immigration law, tribal law, judicial service, and public interest advocacy.
